Boy Scout Troop 617, chartered by Chelsea Church of God, was founded in 2011, in order to provide boys (sixth through twelfth grade) with a quality Scouting program in Chelsea, AL. Through it all, the boys learn to function in small groups (the Patrol), larger groups (the Troop), and to have fun in age-appropriate educational ways. The boys get to learn about hiking, camping and countless other real-world application topics. Best of all, they get the perfect forum to learn how to lead and succeed.
Troop and Patrol meetings are held at 6:30pm on Mondays at the Chelsea Church of God on Hwy 39 in Chelsea, Alabama. The troop generally meets every week, with patrol meetings often within the troop meeting. We also generally have at least one major event each month like a camping trip, canoeing trip, parades, service projects or visits to interesting places around the community.
